A matter of balance.

PharmaCare is your bHRT compounding pharmacy. You’ve probably heard the term “compounding pharmacy,” perhaps in conjunction with female hormone replacement therapy. The advantages are simple, yet essential. Sure, it’s not “off the rack,” but there’s more to it than that.

  • bHRT compounding pharmacies have access to the pure chemical form of hormones.
  • This helps us meet your unique needs and more effectively reach a healthy hormonal balance.
  • Our dosages are highly individualized for your body chemistry.
  • All the hormones therefore work together in your body with the distinct aim to get them in balance.

The doctor is out.

We take medicine seriously at PharmaCare, but there’s nothing wrong with having a little fun when we talk about it. Your Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy is all about you, so it’s only fitting that we make the experience lively and make it personal.

rect women meeting
  • We could get a group together and meet at a coffeehouse for a general consultation about the benefits of bHRT.

  • We can have a spa night, inviting women who have experienced these therapies to tell us about the difference it has made in their lives.

  • We can form a club of a few women going through the same process at the same time, and get together to celebrate our new lives (like a “Class of August 2021” club).

Whatever we do — and how we do it — is up to you. PharmaCare is different from most healthcare providers because of this personal approach, that gets us out of the doctor’s office and into your world to make the best decisions about your bHRT.

As YOUnique as you.

Everything about PharmaCare is unique. We help physicians and patients by developing customized formulas and finding unique solutions to medication problems. Not all pharmacies have the knowledge, equipment or unique skills that this requires. Therefore, our pharmacists and technicians have gone through extensive training beyond pharmacy school. In fact, PharmaCare only does compounding, and we routinely ship compounds to patients throughout Northeast Ohio, as well as to Florida and Pennsylvania.

How do I get started on bHRT Therapy?
1
Consultation with a PharmaCare bHRT Compounding Pharmacist

The session will last for approximately 60 minutes and will include an assessment of your health history and a discussion of the symptoms you are facing. We will send you home with a saliva test kit to check hormone levels in the privacy of your own home.

2
Saliva Test

You will fill 1-4 vials with saliva (depending on what hormones are being tested) and there will be a prepaid UPS envelope in the kit so you can send off the vials for testing. There are no special storage requirements. The results are returned to our pharmacy in about 10-14 days.

3
Personal bHRT Treatment Plan

Once we receive the saliva test results, we'll create a personal bHRT plan with your physician. We can then either set up a consultation with one of our clinical pharmacists or we can send you your results that you can take to your physician. Our bHRT compounding pharmacist is neither diagnosing nor prescribing treatments. The recommendations made by the pharmacist are just that, recommendations, for consideration by you and your healthcare practitioner based upon our expertise in the field of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapies.

Prescriptions from a medical doctor are required for all bHRT prescriptions. If your physician is not familiar with bHRT and you feel like you are a candidate for replacement therapy, we have several highly qualified practitioners in the Northeast Ohio area whom we can recommend. Our clinical pharmacists provide hormone consultations at PharmaCare bHRT Compounding Pharmacy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Answer:

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. All hormones that PharmaCare bHRT Compound Pharmacy compounds are identical to the hormones that are in your body and, therefore are referred to as bio identical hormones.

Answer:

Saliva testing has been used in scientific testing for decades and is highly accurate. It is the most reliable way to measure free, bioavailable hormone activity (those hormones actually doing their job at the cellular level). Standard blood and urine tests do not measure bioavailable hormone levels. Numerous scientific studies have shown a strong correlation between the levels of steroid hormones in the bloodstream and the bioavailable levels of steroid hormones in saliva. In addition, the World Health Organization has used this method of hormone testing in worldwide comparisons of hormone levels among women living in industrialized vs. non-industrialized countries. Finally, saliva hormone testing more accurately reflects tissue uptake and response of hormones delivered through the skin in creams, gels or patches than blood or urine tests.

Answer:

The adrenals are small glands that sit atop the kidneys. The adrenal glands are the first glands to fail under stressful conditions: emotional, psychological, conflicts between desires and beliefs, biochemical, hormonal, thermal, chemical and biological. It seems like nearly everything can tax the adrenal glands. For example, caffeine, fear, toxins, infections, arthritis pain, fibromyalgia, allergies, lack of sleep, smoking, sugar and white flour products are all examples of things that contribute to adrenal fatigue. To optimize bHRT, adrenal fatigue needs to be addressed first.

  • Hitting the snooze button 10 times every morning
  • Most productive after 10:00 p.m.
  • Getting lightheaded when standing up too fast
  • Gaining weight on your hips and waist

Answer:

Compounded medications are prescriptions that are written by a physician or other legally authorized prescriber and prepared for an individual patient. They are not commercially available; rather, they are prepared by a pharmacist to meet an individual’s unique needs as determined by the prescriber. Pharmacy compounding is the art and science of preparing customized medications for patients. Its practice dates back to the origins of pharmacy, yet compounding’s presence throughout the pharmacy profession has changed over the years. In the 1930s and 40s, approximately 60% of all medications were compounded. With the advent of drug manufacturing in the 1950s and 60s, compounding declined rapidly.

Answer:
  • As a compounding-only pharmacy, we use only certain hormones from highly reliable suppliers.
  • Our pharmacists and their technicians must receive regular, specialized training.
  • Compounding facilities must adhere to design and other related standards to help ensure the area is clear and free of contamination.
  • PharmaCare Compounding Pharmacy meets or exceeds USP standards for non-sterile compounding and/or USP standards for sterile compounding.
  • PharmaCare Compounding Pharmacy follows and exceeds all of the United States Pharmacopoeia’s principles of compounding.
Answer:

Almost anyone. We are all unique and compounded prescriptions are ideal for patients requiring unique dosages and/or delivery devices, which can take the form of solutions, suppositories, sprays, oral rinses, lollipops and transdermal creams.

Answer:

Compounded preparations are ethical and legal according to the FDA as long as they are prescribed by a licensed practitioner for a specific patient and compounded by a licensed pharmacy. In addition, compounding is regulated by the state boards of pharmacy.
